Around 9,000 people participate in the Can Tho Heritage International Marathon 2023
     

 

On December 3, Can Tho City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Duc Huong Anh Co. Ltd to organize the International Marathon Can Tho Heritage in 2023 at Hau River Park (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City).

This is an activity in a series of events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Can Tho city under Central Government (from Jan 1st, 2004 to Jan 1st, 2024). The event attracted about 9,000 people from all over the country to participate.

 

Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee said that the event is an opportunity for the city to introduce and promote the city and people of Can Tho City, thereby contributing to the tourism development of the city. The tournament also aims to raise community awareness about exercise and health protection; Promote and develop running as a sport and encourage  people to participate more and more in the movement "running for happiness, running for health". Through the tournament, people can see that Can Tho not only aims for economic development but also focuses on cultural, sports and tourism activities to improve the quality of life and enhance people's health.

The tournament has 4 distances: 5 km, 10 km, half marathon (21 km) and Full marathon (42.195 km). The running route starts from Hau River Park and passes through famous landmarks of Can Tho city such as Ninh Kieu Wharf, Cai Rang Floating Market...

 

The final results, first place in the men's and women's Full marathon events respectively belonged to athlete Bui Tuan Lam (2 hours 51 minutes 14.1 seconds) and athlete Quach Thi Bich Thuy (3 hours 22 minutes 54, 8 seconds).

 

In the men's and women's half marathon, the first place winners were Ly Nhan Tin (1 hour 16 minutes 36.4 seconds) and Chua Khit Yeng (1 hour 28 minutes 5.4 seconds).

 

In the 10 km men's and women's race, athletes Nguyen Ngoc Quy (35 minutes 42 seconds) and Pham Thi Thuy Hanh (39 minutes 44.1 seconds) won first place.

 

First place in the 5km men's and women's events were athletes Mao Quoc Tien (15 minutes 22 seconds) and Du Hieu Vi (20 minutes 0.001 seconds).
